Starbucks has made a number of changes to its core leadership team as part of its new effort to focus more on customer engagement.

Terry Davenport has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing, a new post. Davenport, who previously was vice president of global brand and strategy for Starbucks, will now lead new marketing and brand strategy for the company. He and his team will oversee Starbucks’ marketing plan and calendar, product development, consumer insights and innovation for food and beverage.

Starbucks also named Harry Roberts, a former executive, as senior vice president and chief creative officer. In this newly created role, Roberts and his team will be in charge of the customer in-store experience, including creative expression, merchandise strategy and the overall “look and feel” of the company’s stores.

Starbucks also named Chris Bruzzo to the newly created position of vice president, chief technology officer. Bruzzo, who will also work as acting chief information officer, will use technology to create new ways for Starbucks to connect with our customers and build loyalty programs, the company said.

The new roles take effect immediately, Starbucks said.

The changes come just days after former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz returned to the company to assume his former job, replacing Jim Donald, who was ousted as CEO.
