Staples Inc. reported net income of $161 million for the second quarter, up 19% from $131 million last year.
The Framingham, MA company posted sales of $3.88 billion for the quarter ended July 29, a 12% increase over $3.47 billion the prior year.
The direct marketer and retailer reported an 8% gain in international sales for the quarter.
