Simon Properties will host the Care Bears for a two-day blitz in 88 malls in November.
The event, timed to National Care Week, targets preschool members of Simon’s Kidgits Club. The Nov. 5-6 promotion brings costumed Care Bears to Simon malls in 35 markets, with storytelling by local celebs and by Share Bear; bookmarks and reading lists for preschoolers; craft stations with activity books and “I Care, I Share” stickers; and a site where kids can donate books for less-privileged kids in their community.
Publisher Scholastic will donate 2,200 books to the program, which is administered by Gifts In Kind International.
The effort is a joint promotion between Simon and Care Bears licensors American Greetings Corp. and Joester Loria Group. The bears also star in curriculum materials distributed in 31,000 preschools nationally.
“The Care Bears message of caring and sharing is very timely for today’s kids and a great fit with our Simon Kidgits Club, which offers entertaining programs focused on health and wellness, education, safety and entertainment for children ages three through eight,” said Simon Brand Ventures Senior VP-business development Cathi Weiner in a statement.
