Internet grocer, Peapod, Chicago, has named Mary R. Conrad vice president of marketing. Conrad, 46, will be responsible for directing and integrating the company’s brand marketing programs, including advertising, direct marketing, promotions and public relations. Conrad most recently served Foote Cone & Belding as senior vice president, director of new business.

DraftWorldwide, Chicago, has named Tommy Tardie, vice president, creative director, and Jeff Mullen, vice president, associate creative director. Previously, Tardie served Wunderman Cato Johnson as associate creative director and Mullen worked for Grey Advertising as vice president, creative supervisor.

Medibuy.com, a San Diego-based medical supply procurement Web site has reportedly become the first e-commerce company to license Owen Healthcare’s Supplyline database, which enables users to conduct instant product and price comparison when purchasing healthcare materials.

Chemicals giant DuPont, Wilmington, DE, has made a minority investment in CheMatch.com, a real-time online exchange for bulk commodity chemicals, plastics and fuel products. More than 50 leading companies are represented on the exchange.

Database marketing software maker Informix Corp., Menlo Park, CA, has agreed to buy Ardent Software Inc. for about $772 million in stock, according to wire service reports.

Merrill Lynch, New York, has launched an online investing Web site, Merrill Lynch Direct, at http://www.mldirect.ml.com.
