AMP Agency of Boston has won Agency of the Year honors from Promo Magazine. It was ranked No. 1 in a field of 100 of the best promotions agencies. Promo ranked agencies based on three criteria: 2003 net revenue, net revenue growth from 2001 to 2003 and campaign work. E-Loan Inc. announced on June 8 that it reached a $20 billion milestone. The Internet direct-to-consumer lender generates all its business online. Since its founding in June 1997, E-Loan, based in Pleasanton, CA, has originated more than 285,000 consumer loans. About 92% of its revenues come from mortgage refinancing.

Dennis Madsen, CEO of Recreation Equipment Inc., Seattle, plans to retire at the REI’s annual meeting on March 28, 2005. Sally Jewell, COO of the company, will assume the position as CEO. Madsen plans to spend the next 9 months helping Jewell prepare for the transition. Jewell has been with REI since 2000.

MDB Communications Inc., Washington, DC, has appointed Courtney Thompson to serve as creative director. Thompson has experience in the telecommunications, technology, packaged goods, hospitality, healthcare, financial services and gaming sectors. Thompson was graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL.

Los Angeles based Opportunity Productions has signed up actor Ernest Bourgine as an infomercial host for Sierra Life Sciences Inc. Bourgine will be pitching dietary supplements and a pain relief lotion.
