The Sharper Image Corp. said total fourth-quarter sales of $137.2 million were 24% higher than the prior year’s $110.5 million–a record for the company. The quarter ended Jan. 31.
The sales increase was driven by a 13% increase in comparable stores sales and a 456% increase in Internet sales. Fourth-quarter Internet sales reached $16.6 million from last year’s $3 million. Catalog sales increased 6% to $35.9 million from last year’s $33.9 million.
“We enjoyed the best year in our company’s history,” said Richard Thalheimer, the company’s chairman and CEO, in a statement. “I believe our customers’ enthusiastic response validates our long-term strategy of multi-media marketing, and multi-channel selling of proprietary Sharper Image Design products.”
