Sharper Image Fortunes Down; Plans Distribution Center Closing

The Sharper Image Corp. reported a net loss of $20.6 million for its second quarter, a deeper loss than the $14.6 million it tallied in second-quarter 2006. The company generated $80.3 million in revenue, down from $107.2 million a year ago. The quarter ended July 31.

As part of a streamlining program, Sharper Image will close a Richmond, VA distribution center. The order processing, fulfillment and customer service functions this plant had offered will be spread to Sharper Image’s two remaining centers, which are located in Little Rock, AR and Ontario, CA.
