Seat, the publisher of the Italian yellow pages, plans to buy all of the United Kingdom’s Thompson Directories in an all-share deal worth more than $460 million, according to published reports.
The purchase further Seat’s expansion plans to become an international specialist in business content for companies and platforms distributing products and services.
The announcement follows an announcement Monday that Seat will buy French database provider Consodata in another all-share deal. Seat’s buying spree also includes Telegate, which publishes phone directories in Germany, and Telemontecarlo, an Italian television station.
Thompson is Britain’s second-largest publisher of phone directories. Seat also operates the Italian Internet portal, Virgilio, and plans to merge with telecom Italia’s Internet unit, Tin.it.
