Salesforce to Acquire ExactTarget for $2.5 Billion: What It Means for CMOs and the Industry

Salesforce-ExactTargetOn Tuesday, it was announced that Salesforce would pay $2.5 billion to acquire ExactTarget. As part of its biggest acquisition yet, Salesforce has agreed to purchase all outstanding shares of ExactTarget for $33.75 per share, terms that weren’t received well by investors.

“By combining ExactTarget’s leading digital marketing capabilities with salesforce.com’s leading sales, service and social marketing solutions, salesforce.com will create a world-class marketing platform across email, social, mobile and the web,” according to the joint press release.
