Richter Ordered to Pay MySpace $6M

An arbitrator has ruled that Scott Richter, chief executive of Media Breakaway, must pay MySpace $6 million for sending unsolicited messages to MySpace members.

The ruling is another legal win for MySpace in its battle against spam. However, the award is nowhere near the $230 million verdict the social networking site won against Sanford Wallace and Walt Rines last month when the two failed to show up in court.

MySpace had accused Media Breakaway of sending thousands of unsolicited e-mails to MySpace members disguised as messages from friends promoting one of Media Breakaway
