Drinks Americas Holdings, Ltd. has acquired The Rheingold Brewing Co., the maker of Rheingold Beer, famous in New York since 1883.
The company expects to grow the brand in the New York Metro area and sell other products via the Rheingold distribution system.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Rheingold Beer is an American icon brand,” said Drinks Americas’ CEO J. Patrick Kenny. “Certainly everyone born and raised in New York knows and appreciates Rheingold’s rich history.” Rheingold made promotion history beginning in the 1930s with its “Miss Rheingold” spokeswoman contest.
Drinks Americas’ markets and distributes alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages often associated with celebrities or targeted demographic like its Newman’s Own Lightly Sparking Fruit Juice Drinks and its Sackets Harbor 1812 Beer.
