Regis Wannabes can get out their monochromatic suit ensembles for McDonaldÕs latest promo. The McDonald’s Operators’ Association of Southern California, Los Angeles, this week begins its search for a Regis Philbin impersonator as an overlay to the Oak Brook, IL-based chainÕs “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” game.
The national sweeps runs through May 17 with scratch-off game cards distributed via fry boxes. Players answer trivia questions to win $1 million, smaller cash prizes (on the same scale as the TV show), or food. Players scratch off the question, then one of four answers; if itÕs right, they scratch off one of four boxes to see their prize.
Players can get a “lifeline” at abc.com to improve their odds of answering the questions, which are taken from the show. (California franchisees will send their Regis winner to New York City for a taping of “Live with Regis and Kelly.”) Simon Marketing, Oak Brook, handles.
