Citizens Bank denied reports that Rapp Collins had been awarded the direct marketing business for the bank, but said the New York agency was a finalist.
Citizens Bank’s direct marketing business is estimated to be worth $5 million to $10 million.
“Citizens has narrowed down the search, Rapp Collins is a finalist,” said Barbara Cottam, a spokesperson for Citizens.
A New York Times story on Monday and industry sources said that Rapp Collins had won the business.
Direct marketing for Providence, RI-based Citizens had been handled by Sigma Marketing Group, Syracuse, NY, Cottam said.
Arnold Worldwide, Boston, will continue to handle the bank’s general advertising.
Citizen’s Financial Group Inc. is a $53 billion bank holding company. It is one of the nation’s largest commercial banks with 710 Citizens Bank branches in New England and the mid-Atlantic states. Citizens Bank is wholly owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc.
