Raggedy Ann Celebrates Milestone Birthday, Licensing Deal

She may be 90-years-old, but Raggedy Ann is looking as good as ever.

This spring, Russ Berrie and Co., Inc. (RUSS) will mark Raggedy Ann’s special milestone by rolling out new products of the doll and of her brother, Andy, as the company recently signed on as master licenses for the Raggedy Ann & Andy brand.

As part of the deal, allowed by rights owners Hasbro, Inc. and Simon & Schuster, Inc., RUSS will take on worldwide rights for soft dolls, gift sets, puppets, wall plaques, bean bags, collectible figurines, photo frames, water globes, magnets, and mugs. The deal excludes Japan.

“Holding the broad rights to such an extensive list of key categories will give us the leverage to build an extensive and cohesive line of products for the lovable red-haired brother and sister that has never really existed prior to our partnership,” said Andy Gatto, RUSS’s president and CEO, in a statement.
