A 16-year-old boy was among Florida residents who received unsolicited samples of Prozac earlier this month, the Associated Press reported.
The Walgreen Co. drugstore chain confirmed that a month’s supply of Prozac was sent to the youth, Michael Grinstead. The boy’s name was among others sent by a local doctor’s office to the pharmacy with instructions to mail the anti-depressant.
A spokesman for Walgreens reportedly apologized to the boy’s family through the press.
The mailings have led to an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit by a 59-year-old woman who also received the mailing (DIRECT Newsline, July 8 and 9, 2002).
The boys’ family plans to file a lawsuit of their own.
