Priceline.com has extended its reach into the rental car field by acquiring the domain name and customer base of Rentalcars.com. Price was not disclosed.
Rentalcars.com pulled more than 300,000 visitors a month last year and pulled in more than $10 million in gross bookings.
Paul Hennessy, vice president-rental cars for Priceline.com, said in a statement that this purchase brings the Norwalk, CA-based firm closer to becoming “a one stop-shop for travelers, enabling them to fill all their travel needs on a retail or Name-Your-Own Price basis, depending on their personal and trip preferences.”
He added that Priceline.com offers airline tickets, hotel rooms and vacation packages through its Web site and through its retail subsidiary, Lowestfare.com.
