While J.C. Penney Co.’s catalog and Internet sales were up 3.3% during the five weeks ended Oct. 2, and store sales rose 2%, the company claimed that the recent hurricanes had a negative impact on its revenue.
During that time, direct sales rose from $245 million to $253 million, and store sales were up from $1.23 billion to $1.26 billion.
For the last two months, department store sale rose 3.1%, to $2.6 billion, while catalog and Internet sales were up 4.7%, to $448 million from $428 million.
