Publishers Clearing House has been hit with a personal-injury suit by a consumer.
A Wynnwood, PA woman named Gloria Dougherty claims that a gravy bowl she bought from PCH exploded on her table, and that she suffered “multiple and extensive bruises, contusions and lacerations.”
The complaint alleges that the product was defective, and that PCH misrepresented that it was safe.
“The plaintiffs have purchased numerous items from the defendants over thee years…of course, they have never won any prizes as suggested and promised,” the complaint continues.
Dougherty charges that she also received “multiple internal and external injuries,” and that her husband William, who is also listed as a plaintiff, has been deprived of the services and “consolations” of his wife.
The case was recently moved from the local Court of Common Pleas to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Attorney Allen I. Feldman, who represents Dougherty, said he still hopes to have the suit returned to the local court.
Attorneys for PCH were unavailable for comment at deadline.
