There’s no argument about the fact that using recycled paper is good for the environment.
But for catalogers, it isn’t quite that simple. Despite pressure from environmental organizations and a desire to look good in the eyes of consumers, availability and price are key concerns that have kept many away from using recycled stock.
Tom Hansen, vice president, marketing and publication papers for Elk Grove Village, IL-based paper broker Bradner Smith & Co, says he’s seen very little interest in the topic from catalogers.
