PEPSI: is launching a vanilla-flavored cola this summer to put pressure on its rival Coca-Cola Co and its Vanilla Coke product, which has sold 90 million cases since its launch last May, news reports said. Pepsi Vanilla will be introduced late this summer. Pepsi is also introducing Mountain Dew LiveWire, whose packaging mimics Coca-Cola’s “Fridge Pack.” A Mountain Dew tie-in with the movie The Hulk is also on tap.

THE QUIGLEY CORPORATION: has introduced a sore throat lollipop under its new KIDZ-EEZE banner. The pops will begin shipping to retail in August. This marks the first time that the firm has developed a product specifically for children’s sore throats.

THE MARKETING ARM: has named Amy Erschen to the newly created position of group account director in its consulting group. She will be located in the Dallas headquarters and will oversee account services for such clients as Office Depot, Nokia and Heinz.
