LEGO:

is holding a nationwide contest in which kids between the ages of six and 17 have 45 minutes to build something with 2,000 bricks based on a theme given to them at the last minute. The winner will become a Lego MasterBuilder apprentice, visiting a MasterBuilder workshop and working with a Lego MasterBuilder on a larger-than-life creation to be displayed in a Legoland Park. Winners and runner-ups will also have the opportunity to win products from the new Lego construction range for 2003. The closing date for submitting entries is Nov. 12.

LLKFB: New York City, named Joe Cupani executive VP-chief creative officer of the direct-marketing agency, replacing co-founder Carmine Farese, who retires at yearend. Cupani had been executive VP-chief creative officer at Wunderman, New York City. Omnicom Group owns LLKFB.

JACKSON HEWITT: forms a strategic alliance with rent-to-own company Rent-A-Center. The partnership provides for exclusive cross marketing initiatives, employee discounts and in-store presence of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in select Rent-A-Center locations nationwide. Coupons for a free two-week rental support.

UNITED AIRLINES: is offering customers one free-day car rental from Avis for those who book travel on www.united.com now through Nov. 30. Mileage Plus members can also earn 50 miles per day on all qualifying rentals with Avis, in addition to the 1,000 bonus miles for booking travel online and the flight miles earned for travel.
