CIRCUIT CITY STORES: Richmond, VA, is offering free movies for a year to new wireless customers. The July 11-17 joint promo with movie ticketing firm Fandango.com mails consumers a certificate with a unique code that can be redeemed online once every 30 days for one free ticket to any movie theater served by Fandango. (Customers can get ticket rebates by mail if they don’t live near a theater in Fandango’s network.) Outside the Box, Pasadena, CA, handles.

SCHOLASTIC AT HOME: New York City, named Singer Direct, Scarsdale, NY, agency of record for insert media buying for the Scholastic Corp. division.

RALLY MONKEY SPORTHEADS: candy dispensers will be given away to all kids 18 and under Sept. 12 at Angels Stadium. Rally Monkey is the mascot of the Anaheim Angels mascot. The San Diego Zoo and Radio Disney 1110 AM are co-sponsoring the promotion. Sportheads are marketed by East Aurora, NY-based Cenergy Sports & Entertainment.

CANDIES, INC.: has signed an exclusive agreement with singer/actress Ashlee Simpson to appear in its new fall advertising campaign. The print ads will debut in September issues of fashion, entertainment and lifestyle magazines. Simpson will perform a live concert for Candie’s customers and make two in-store appearances at retailers in major markets. Additionally, the company is finalizing a national sweeps with Simpson in-store and online.

K’NEX: has partnered with Toys “R” Us for the Building School Pride program. The goal of the annual program is to provide students with a community stage to display a K’NEX construction set project at their local Toys “R” Us store. More than 400 classrooms around the country are participating in the event, which kicks off in September. Kids will build the new K”NEX Ultimate Big Air Ball Tower and once the project is complete, each class will deliver and present the project to their community at their local Toys “R” Us. A special display, complete with an area to post the school’s name and signatures of all the children who helped build the model will also be featured at Toys “R” Us. The model will be on display throughout the holiday season.

COMEDY CENTRAL: will provide licensed content to Virgin Mobile. The wireless company will begin a monthly roll out of an array of content based on Comedy Central original programming. The agreement, part of a broad ongoing alliance between Virgin Mobile and Comedy Central’s parent MTV Networks, will let Virgin Mobile users dial up special Comedy Central games, screen savers, wallpapers, news alerts, voice greetings and more. Other content on the horizon includes wireless SMS and downloadable games based on South Park as well as exclusive content from the upcoming animated series Drawn Together.
