SMG COMMUNICATIONS: Marina Del Rey, CA, promoted John Weir to president, a new post at the marketing communications and p.r. agency that specializes in electronic security and fire/life safety. He had been director of public relations since joining the shop in November; his promotion is effective May 18. Weir assumes some of the duties of Jerry Lenander, CEO of SMG’s parent company Syncomm Management Group.
