BURGER KING: is out with a new addition to its menu, the BK Stacker sandwich, which lets consumers customize the size of their burger to match their appetite. The BK Stacker features two, three or four hamburger patties stacked between a sesame-seed bun with American cheese and up to eight slices of crispy bacon with Stacker Sauce. The sandwich is available in three sizes: the BK Double Stacker ($2.49), BK Triple Stacker ($3.29) and BK Quad Stacker ($3.99). Burger King is promoting the new item with posters at construction sites in major cities nationwide. P-O-P and TV spots also support. In addition, the QSR will offer 2.5-inch collectible figurines characters from the BK Stackers TV spots. Consumers can buy a set of three figurines for $13.99 starting July 10.
MAXELL CORP. OF AMERICA: will be a sponsor of X Games 12 in Los Angeles on Aug. 3-6. The deal with game organizer ESPN will leverage a promotions and advertising campaign featuring Maxell’s “Blow Away” icon and the X Games property. The digital media products company will create a Web site where consumers can obtain information on the event, purchase Maxell-branded apparel and review new and featured products. Maxell also plans to launch an online game targeting young consumers that features five characters representing various genres of music. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
