ACNIELSEN: cut a deal yesterday with the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) to analyze sales data for c-stores and gas stations in the U.S. and several international regions. NACS will use ACNielsen’s analytics for industry benchmarks, especially its State of the Industry reports, which are widely used by retailers and manufacturers in the $500 billion industry.
MOTOROLA, INC.: has tapped professional snowboarder Shaun White as an ambassador for Moto RED. In this new role, White will spread the word about Motorola teaming-up with RED, created by Bono and Bobby Shriver to encourage companies to make unique RED-branded products and contribute a portion of their profits to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. White will help build awareness for the company’s Moto RED product line. For each handset sold, Motorola and the mobile carrier will collectively make a $17 contribution to the Global Fund. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
ELIZABETH ARDEN, INC.: has signed Jimmie Johnson, 2006 winner of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing’s Nextel Cup Series and reigning champion of its premiere race, the Daytona 500, as its national spokesperson for the Daytona 500 Fragrance for Men. The company introduced the fragrance in February. Johnson will be featured in national advertising, promotional packaging, in-store displays, sales promotions and p.r. activities. A TV ad campaign beginning next month for the holiday fragrance-buying season will feature Johnson and his wife Chandra. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
