DENNY’S: is celebrating tax day with a free national coffee giveaway. Customers who visit any participating restaurant in the U.S. on April 17 will receive a free cup of Denny’s Special Blend Coffee. And for consumers who can’t visit a restaurant, the company will offer the free beverage at post offices and other high-traffic locations in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and Pittsburgh.
SEARS, ROEBUCK & CO.: is touting its NASCAR sponsorship with race-themed P-O-P in the tool department of its 861 full-line Sears stores. The signs showcase scenes from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races; Sears’ tool brand, Craftsman, has been the series’ title sponsor since 1995. The P-O-P includes banners, toolbox toppers, signs at department entrances and signage wrapped around cash register stations. The in-store dress up supports Sears’ on-track promotion, an 8,000-square-foot display that invites fans to play race-related games, test-drive racing car simulators, and view a cutaway version of a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race truck. Sears also plays up NASCAR in Craftsman ads, catalogs and direct-mail pieces to Craftsman Club members.
