HP HOOD: is launching a new ice cream flavor in New England to support the historic Freedom Trail that runs through Boston. Hood’s Freedom Trail Mix ice cream was the top winner in the dairy’s 2006 Taste of New England Flavor Naming contest, which drew more than 1,000 entries. Hood will donate five cents for each carton sold to The Freedom Trail Foundation to help maintain the 2.5-mile walking trail. The flavor has chocolate-covered peanuts, sunflower seeds and pretzels in honey nut ice cream swirled with caramel.
