New E-mail Intelligence Service Debuts

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

E-mail marketing intelligence service SubjectSuccess has debuted with the claim that it offers marketers real-time analysis of competitors’ electronic mail programs.

The Teaneck, NJ-based startup claims to be able to tell marketers which of their competitors’ e-mails are most effective at driving traffic to Web sites and offer pages. The company also offers consultative services.

Though SubjectSuccess cannot track such metrics as conversion rates, it can gage the relative effectiveness of messages based on corresponding Web site traffic, said CEO Abe Turek.

“We call it our engagement index,” he said.

The service costs between $2,500 and $3,000 a month, depending on the length of the contract, he added.

SubjectSuccess also has five consultants who for an added fee will work with clients to help them improve their marketing, said Turek.

When asked about his background, Turek said he worked for one of the largest e-mail service providers in the New York City area managing the e-mail marketing programs for several Fortune 500 clients, but said he wasn’t able to give more information.

SubjectSuccess aims to be a direct competitor to Email Data Source, a company launched in 2003 that claims to have a database of 1.8 million e-mail marketing messages from 18,000 brands.

Turek said that SubjectSuccess is monitoring 700 e-mail senders so far.

“We add many more each week,” he said. “Of course, our goal is to have as many as possible.” He added the company only monitors opt-in e-mail programs that are Can-Spam compliant.

Turek also said SubjectSuccess’s service can be tailored to meet specific marketers’ needs.

“We are currently building something that we call ‘my briefcase’ in which you’ll be able to specify at every level what it is that you’re looking for,” he said.

The company so far has no clients, but Turek said he is negotiating with “quite a few.”
