Neutrogena Dermatologics Taps Katharine McPhee for New Acne Products

Katharine McPhee, the fresh-faced singer and actress best known for her success on “American Idol,” is helping Neutrogena Dermatologics launch its new personalized acne regime.

McPhee has emerged as a role model for young girls, the key audience Neutrogena hopes will buy skin iD.

She will appear in infomercials and is featured on www.skiniD.com, the new Web site dedicated to the products.

At the site, visitors can purchase an introductory skin iD kit worth more than $100 for $39.90. The kit includes a personalized product regimen, access to professional dermatologist support and a free travel bag. The offer comes with a 100% money back guarantee.

Visitors can also take a free skin iD evaluation, which not only allows the user to get acquainted with the product, but lets Neutrogena collect important information about the users, such as skin type, competitive product use, lifestyle and state of residency. At the end of the evaluation, a personalized skin regimen is recommended using a number of skin iD products that can be immediately ordered. A viral component allows the opportunity for the evaluation to be passed along to a friend.

“Skin iD was developed with an innovative one-on-one approach. We determined that offering consumers access to skin iD through a dedicated Web site or by phone would allow for the dialogue necessary to evaluate their unique skincare needs and provide a personalized regimen,” said Jim Colleran, president, Neutrogena Corp., in a statement.

McPhee recently released her first single “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” She will make her big screen debut in August, starring in “The House Bunny” opposite Anna Farris, Emma Stone and Kat Dennings for Sony Pictures.

Neutrogena Dermatologics is a unit of skincare brand Neutrogena.
