Motorola, Inc. has tapped Heinz executive Kenneth C. “Casey” Keller, Jr. as executive VP and CMO, effective Oct. 23.
In his role, Keller will be oversee corporate-wide marketing, strategy development and execution, agency management, public relations and media outreach, internal marketing, marketing communications (including advertising, promotions and events), web/interactive marketing, sponsorships and entertainment and market research, the company said.
He replaces George Neill, who served as acting CMO after Geoffrey Frost died last year. He will report to Ed Zander, Motorola’s chairman and CEO.
Most recently, Keller worked as chairman and CEO of Heinz Italy, where he led the turnaround and revitalization of Heinz’ position in infant feeding and medical food in Italy. He has also held other titles, such as chief growth officer for H.J. Heinz Co., and was managing director of Heinz’s U.S. ketchup, condiments and sauces business. Under Keller’s leadership, Heinz Ketchup’s U.S. market share rose from 45% to 60%, Heinz said.

The $35.3 billion wireless and broadband communications provider controls 22% of the worldwide global handset market and last quarter shipped 51.9 million wireless phones. The Schaumburg, IL-based company is beginning to rival Finland-based Nokia, which dominates the category, according to MarketWatch.
