McDonald’s Names Quaker Foods’ Dillon as CMO

McDonald’s Corp. has appointed Mary Dillion, president of Quaker Foods, as the new executive VP and global CEO for the company.

Dillion, 44, will replace Larry Light, who plans to retire at the end of the year. Dillon’s position takes effect Oct. 3. During her tenure as president, Dillion oversaw the $1.8 billion Quaker Food Division, which includes such brands as Quaker Oatmeal, Cap’n Crunch, Life and Rice-A-Roni. Dillion started her career with the company in 1984.

Quaker Foods is the Chicago-based division of PepsiCo Corp.

In her new role, Dillion will oversee all aspects of global brand management, including strategy development research, creative, marketing alliances and global sponsors. She will also supervise the QSR’s Balanced Lifestyle Initiative. Dillon will report to Mike Roberts, McDonald’s president and COO.

“Mary Dillon is an extremely talented executive who brings a remarkable combination of marketing and general management expertise to McDonald’s.” said McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner in a statement. “Mary will add energetic leadership and creative thinking to a global marketing team that continues to deepen relationships with our customers.”

Light will work as a consultant for McDonald’s upon his retirement, the company said.
