London Bans Unrealistic Body Image Ads on Subway

London bans subway ads
This ad for a weight loss supplement drew criticism from hundreds of people.

The mayor of London is fed up.

Ads for weight loss supplements, those featuring skinny-mini young girls, photo-shopped and unrealistic body images are a scourge as far as London Mayor Sadiq Khan is concerned and he’s doing something about it

As the father of two teenage girls, he is banning ads that promote unhealthy body image in the city’s subway system where riders are a captive audience and ads are right in their faces.

He began the process after a weight loss ad drew hundreds of complaints. He has launched a steering group to monitor and police the policy, The New York Times reported.
