Orvis, The Sporting Tradition Fall 1999 catalog, received the Catalog of the Year award during a luncheon presentation yesterday at the 17th Annual Catalog Conference & Exhibition in San Francisco.
“From its heartwarming cover art to its focus on environmental programs, Orvis defines excellence in cataloging,” Sherry Chiger, editorial director of Catalog Age magazine, which sponsors the awards, told the crowd. “As one judge said, `Classic branding and an unwavering service commitment never go out of style!'”

* Computer Equipment and Software: Black Box, Fall/Winter 1999/2000
* Consumer Specialty Products: Patagonia, Holiday 1999 and Magellan’s, Fall 1999
* Food: Harry and David, Christmas 1999
* Gardening: Jackson & Perkins, New Roses 2000
* Gifts over $75: Williamsburg, Autumn 1999
* Housewares, Linens and Furniture: Williamsburg, Autumn 1999
* Industrial Supplies: New Pig, January 2000 Pigalog
* Sporting Goods: Orvis, The Sporting Tradition, Fall 1999 and Patagonia, Holiday 1999
* Travel: Mountain Travel-Sobek, 2000

In addition, online awards were broken out for the first time into the inaugural iMerch@nt Awards. The Gold Awards is that category went to:
