Live From New Orleans: DMEF Raises $300,000

The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation raised $300,000 for DM training Saturday evening during its annual dinner. Some of the money was contributed by companies, the rest came from an auction of contributed products and services. Several firms promised to fund $5,000 scholarships.

In another evening highlight, Direct columnist Katie Muldoon received the Edward N. Mayer award for her strategic leadership. “She has few equals in our industry, or any industry,” said Liz Kislik, of Liz Kislik Associates. America Online received the DMEF’s Corporate Leadership award. And Bob Hemmings, president of Hemmings Direct, who conducted the auction, was given a surprise Lifetime Achievement award. The three co-chairs of DMEF are Claire Brand of Hallmark, Garry Myers of Highlights for Children and Kislik.
