IN THE NEWS
Worldata Begins Tracking Online Lead Generation Costs
The Worldata List Price Index has been expanded to include cost data for online lead generation programs that are used for building marketing lists.
“We’re seeing an overwhelming industry shift from traditional postal and e-mail list marketing to online marketing, such as co-registration and other cost-per-lead and cost-per-action programs,” said in a statement Ray Tesi, senior vice president of Worldata.
The first figures for three categories were released for fall 2007. These showed that consumer lead generation cost-per-lead averaged $1.35 this fall. The average cost for business-to-business leads was $4.55. White paper syndicated programs on average generated leads at a cost of $12.55 per download.
Other regularly tracked data from the index indicated the list prices declined in most categories. A notable exception was the attendee/membership list category, which saw a $4/M or 3.45% increase in prices in the last 12 months.
Donor list prices have risen by an average of $1/M since last year, but remained the lowest priced category at $82/M. The average price for newsletter subscription files remained flat at $178/M, reflecting no change since last year.
Database and master files prices fell an average of $11/M, more than 8% compared to last year. Consumer and business-to-business e-mail lists continued on a downward trend.
