Counts range from 6,338 to 20,360 for names from 2004 and last year. Older names are available. These files were previously only offered on a limited basis directly from the list owner. Names of active subscribers are not available.

NEW INSERT MEDIA

Staples PIP and Blow-in
Staples Inc. has launched blow-in, package insert and co-op programs, in addition to online banner advertising programs for its Web site and selected e-mail promotions. Only one insert will be accepted in each of the roughly 30 million catalogs mailed annually. Blow-in inserts must be between 3-1/2 by 5 inches to 6-1/2 by 6-1/2 inches. Each of the more than 4 million packages are shipped annually will carry up to eight inserts. The maximum size for the PIP is 5-1/2 by 8-1/2. Inserts for both programs can weigh up to one-quarter ounce.

Jack Oldstein Founder of Dependable Lists Dies
Jack Oldstein, 81, a pioneer in the list business, died on Sunday in Broward, FL. Oldstein founded Dependable Lists Inc. in the 1950s, which through acquisitions and name changes has become known as Specialists Marketing Services Inc.
He retired from direct marketing many years ago.
Oldstein sold Dependable Lists in 1985.
“Jack was a great guy who loved life. He had a passion for the list business. I’d say he was a workaholic who was well liked by his employees and clients,” said Lon Mandel, CEO and president of Specialists.
Survivors include two daughters and one son. Services are planned for Wed. at 10 a.m. in Valhalla, NY. Riverside Memorial Chapel, Mt. Vernon, NY, will be handling the arrangements.
