Ron Riffkin, one of the last independent list brokers and managers, died on Feb. 18 at 68 after a long illness, DIRECT Newsline has learned.
Riffkin founded his one-man list firm, Riffkin Direct, in 1988. At its peak, the New Hyde Park, NY-based company managed properties like the Nora Nelson mail order buyer’s file and a part of the R.L. Polk database.
The operation slowly wound down over the last several months.
Earlier in his career, Riffkin had served as list manager of Charles Offset Co.
“He was extremely honest, very personable and highly knowledgeable,” said Leon Henry, president of Leon Henry Inc. “He will be missed by all of us who knew him.”
Riffkin is survived by his wife, Sharon, and daughter, Debbie.
