Lifetime Television Empowers Women to Vote

Lifetime Television is launching an array of new non-partisan initiatives to empower women of all ages and backgrounds to become part of the democratic process as voters and candidates.

Lifetime and its affiliates, Comcast and Time Warner Cable will run the Future Frontrunners Project, an essay contest that selects high school girls in each convention city to participate in a one-day seminar with national leaders and attend a session of the Democratic or Republican National Conventions.

The campaign, in support of Lifetime’s public education campaign—Our Lifetime Commitment: Every Women Counts—will travel to the Democratic National Convention in Boston July 26-30. There, Lifetime will host the opening day of the Women’s Caucus, attended by about 2,000 female elected officials, key party officials, delegates and leading nonprofit organizations. Lifetime will also have a presence at the Republican National Convention in New York, Aug. 30-Sept. 2, to host a reception saluting the prominent women in politics.

Lifetime is teaming up with Rock the Vote and its Chicks Rock, Chicks Vote initiative to co-host late night parties featuring top musical talent including Carole King and others.

Additionally, Lifetime will sponsor a conference with the Young Women’s Leadership Conference to help develop leadership skills and relationships that will inspire young women to strive for excellence and succeed in their professional lives.
