[Re: Loose Cannon: Conference Calls, Direct Newsline, January 28, 2008]:
You’ve once again given me pause for laughter, a chuckle and then, the ‘a-hah’ moment as I often contemplate the DMA’s press releases . . . as in ‘what are they thinking?’ Evidently, DMA doesn’t seem to realize that the more one segments, the more one’s message must be relevant to the segment . . . or else, why bother? Perhaps it was a few years ago when they lost the concept of a ‘trade organization’ and started to talk about ‘branding.’
I always thought direct marketing was a pretty big tent but, hey, what do I know? Somewhere, over in their HQ building, there’s real lead in the pipes, and the decline of the Roman Empire is soon upon them . . .
