Land O’Frost is running its first contest with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment for a holiday contest that gets people thinking about their most miraculous holiday memories.
The packaged luncheon meat company is promoting the DVD release of “Miracle on 34th Street,” the 50th anniversary of the film’s release, on holiday packages of its products with a “Holiday Miracle” contest. To enter, people write an essay describing a holiday memory and submit it to http://www.landofrost.com through Jan. 8.
One grand-prize winner gets a trip for four to New York City. Another 500 win a DVD of “Miracle on 34th Street.”
The contest is the first for Land O’Frost, which is looking to make a more personal connection with its customers, Angie Moffitt, the firm’s marketing coordinator, said. By tying in with a well-known brand, the company is looking to catch some of the halo effect through sales, she said.
“Miracle on 34th Street” is such a classic,” Moffitt said. “It’s one of those evergreen properties that will help our brands.”
A $3 mail-in rebate is included on pack for such DVDs as “Home Alone Family Fun Edition,” “A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Special Edition,” “Christmas Carol The Movie,” “Ice Age: The Meltdown,” “Jingle All the Way” and “Miracle on 34th Street Special Edition.”
A print ad promoting the contest and tie-in in Family Circle breaks this week. The promotion will also be marketed via 10,000 P-O-P displays and on the Land O’Frost Web site. Langston Communications handles the promotion for Land O’Frost.
