Kmart promoted Peter Whitsett to senior VP-merchandising officer this week, a new post overseeing all merchandise categories for Kmart’s 1,479 stores.
Whitsett had been senior VP-general merchandise manager overseeing Kmart’s hard goods, food and consumables, drug store and pharmacy merchandise divisions.
It’s the second major marketing appointment this week for Sears Holdings Corp. The company’s Sears Roebuck & Co. division promoted Joan Chow to CMO of Sears Retail on July 11 (Xtra July 13). Kmart and Sears completed their merger in March.
