John S. Yeck died of cancer yesterday morning in Kettering, OH. He was 86. A memorial service is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Routsong Kettering Chapel.
In addition to creating and running Yeck Brothers in Dayton, OH, for half a century, John Yeck was a director of the Direct Marketing Association for 32 years, chairman of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation, and a past director of both the Boy Scouts and the Red Cross, among other organizations. He had been active in such groups as the Kiwanis and the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce as well.
Yeck founded his company as Graphic Service Inc. in 1938. His brother, William, served as co-chair and William’s son, Robert, is president and chief executive officer. Clients include American Express, 3M, Chase Manhattan Bank, and Federal Express, among others.
John Yeck’s wife, Willa, died in 1993. A daughter, Joan, a son-in-law, Tom McGreevey, and a granddaughter survive him.
