As expected, John Dasburg resigned last week as Chairman of Burger King Corp. He has accepted the positions of chairman and CEO at cargo carrier DHL Airways.
Dasburg, 60, came to Burger King in 2001 after serving as CEO of Northwest Airlines for 10 years.
His departure follows a number of changes in top management following Diageo’s sale of Burger King to a private equity consortium led by Texas Pacific Group.
Burger King named Bradley Blum CEO in December and in January named Robert Nilsen president. Since then, Dasburg’s title had been primarily honorary with no board membership.
Other recent resignations include Chris Clouser, executive VP and global chief marketing officer and president of Burger King Brands. He will retire May 1. Clouser — who also worked at Northwest — and Dasburg led the Burger King sales process. The company’s No. 2 marketing exec, Rick Dow stepped down early this month (Feb. 18 Xtra). Rick Brown succeeded him.
Burger King said in a statement that the chairman position will be kept open and addressed at the company’s April board meeting.
