Japanese television shopping firm Japanet Takata Co. resumed its TV shopping programs Sunday about one month and a half after it voluntarily stopped them due to the leakage of customer information, according to wire service reports.
According to the Nagasaki-based firm, the leakage came to light in early March when a list containing the names and addresses of 148 of its customers was brought to the company from an outside source.
On March 9, Japanet held a press conference to say that information on up to 660,000 of its customers may have been stolen, and that it was halting all sales operations through TV, radio and its Web site, www.japanet.co.jp.
The company has said it has asked police to investigate the theft.
