New York-based iVillage Inc., has made several agreements the site claims will “leverage the strengths of its core media competencies” and help the company become profitable.
In one, Babygear.com, a baby products superstore, will acquire certain assets of the iBaby commerce business from iVillage. Although specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed, iVillage plans to take an equity position in Babygear.com, and through several five-year sponsorship pacts, will feature the baby site on several iVillage pages.
In another agreement, iVillage has restructured its relationship with Dan Howard Industries, a maternity manufacturer and retailer, to be a more traditional sponsor rather than a retail partner. iMaternity.com and PlusBoutique.com, the maternity and full-figured retail clothing stores on iVillage.com, will be transitioned to Dan Howard. In addition, Babygear.com has also developed an exclusive relationship with Dan Howard.
