A new bill in the Israeli Knesset will make it illegal for advertisers to send any form of spam, by e-mail, fax, and will limit telemarketing, reported Ha’aretz.
According to the bill submitted by Knesset member Roman Bronfman, the Justice Ministry will manage a list, which will contain names of people to whom advertisers may not send unsolicited material.
The measure states that advertisers will face a fine of 1,290 Israeli Shekels (about $300) for every item of unsolicited commercial mail they send.
Another bill seeks to create a national do-not-mail database.
