Total U.S. advertising spending is expected to increase 5.4% in 2006 to $152.3 billion, according to by TNS Media Intelligence.
Overall growth is forecast at 5.0% during the first half of 2006, and by 5.7% in the second half of the year.
The Internet and Cable Network Television show the strongest absolute gains with 9.1% and 8.4%, respectively. In addition, outdoor expenditures are expected to rise 7.2%, this year. Newspaper spending will go up by 4.3%, consumer and Sunday magazines by 4% and radio by 3.6%.
