Home Depot Stakes Father’s Day Claim

The Home Depot today breaks TV spots declaring itself the “proud sponsor of Father’s Day” as part of a multi-pronged “holiday” campaign.

An online sweeps will award a $10,000 shopping spree; consumers over 18 can enter to win the spree for their dad. The sweeps began May 18 and runs through June 18 via ePrize, Pleasant Ridge, MI.

The chain also taps its NASCAR sponsorship to paint “proud sponsor” graphics on the hood of its car for the Pocono 500, running on June 11—one week before Father’s Day.

Atlanta-based Home Depot hosted Kids Workshops nationally on June 3, inviting kids to make a wooden toolbox for a Father’s Day gift. (A special gift card, with measuring tape graphics and the line “Dad, you rule.” Sells online and in-store through Father’s Day.) HomeDepot.com also offers free shipping on gift orders over $49.
