The Hershey Co.’s Payday and Skor brands have launched an on-pack promotion, which offer the chance to win cash for free gasoline.
People look for game pieces inside the candy bars to see if they have won. Fifty grand-prize winners will each receive $2,340 to use toward gas for one year; 5,500 first-prize winners will each receive $45.
Thousands of specially marked candy bars feature the on-pack, instant-win Cash 4 Gas game, which runs though Dec. 31. Enough cash will be given away to buy more than 100,000 gallons of gasoline, Hershey said. Details are available at www.hersheys.com/cash4gas.
“High gas prices continue to be a concern for everyone and The Hershey Co. is excited to offer a fun and delicious way to save on gas costs,” Jody Cook, director of product publicity, The Hershey Co., said in a statement.
The company kicked off the promotion last week at a 7-Eleven in Romeoville, IL, surprising motorists with free tanks of gas. In all, Hershey gave away more than 5,000 gallons of free gas to 380 customers. Drivers also received PayDay and Skor bars.
Hershey is supporting the promotion with a two-month radio campaign in 36 markets, which include radio advertising, on-air announcements and contests.
