Gotuit Starts Video Portal with Search and Ad Implications

Posted on

Gotuit Media, a video-on-demand content provider, recently unveiled Gotuit.com, which is an ad-supported broadband video portal. It hopes to use a tagging system as well as a sleek interface to give users a pleasant experience with an emphasis on less waiting time.

The major feature that will differentiate Gotuit from other video portals is its tagging system. This incorporates both human and automated aspects to classify specific segments of individual video clips.

“Most of the video portals will allow you to search for a video. We allow you to search in a video,” said Mark Pascarella, president of Gotuit Media.

This feature will enable users to view individual sections of video clips based on the searched content and the matching tags.

Gotuit.com will also give users the ability to create personalized playlists of whole videos or parts of individual videos.

Advertisers can also take advantage of this tagging feature. By utilizing this functionality, advertisers can insert their ads in specific and relevant points during any videos. This is a departure from the conventional pre-roll and post-roll ads that current video portals predominantly use.

For viewers who do not search for specific content, 15- or 30-second ads will be inserted within videos instead of before or after the video plays. Ad deployment will be based on how long or active a user is on the site.

Unlike many of its other counterparts, Gotuit features licensed content from major content providers. The site has already made deals with Reuters, the Associated Press, Accuweather, the NFL Network, HGTV, Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Shady Records, and Planet X.

Content channels include music, news, sports, and entertainment.
